Love Charlotte Brontë but I found this book to be tedious and boring 🥱
Lucy Snow is so annoying! Jane Eyre could never put up with such nonsense

Jane Eyre is one of my favorite novels and I’ve read it maybe ten times. So I was so disappointed not to like Villette, recommended by the lovely Katie. Lucy was so distant and untrusting. Why wouldn’t she tell me how she felt? Why was she so secretive? I couldn’t understand or relate to her in any way and was so hurt when she kept things from me. She reminded me a lot Jane Fairfax from Emma. Jane, on the other hand, actually confided in her readers! Some characters were really interestingly written (the little volatile Frenchman in particular) and apparently drawn from real life. Then I got interested and read a bit about the Bronte family and that was a real downer, I don’t recommend it.

Long, drawn out metaphors and a contrived plot line made this book a bit of chore to get through.

Holy shit. Need to learn french and reread I want to understand every single detail of this book. So beautiful and detailed I don’t even know where to begin w talking about it! And what an ending oh my goddddd.

still not super into it the second time around

Was reading for uni but didn’t need to finish it.
