This was exceptional. I've wanted to read this book for a while, I'm not even sure what attracted me to it but there's just something about the cover, the author, the blurb. It didn't disappoint. Alice is a middle aged time traveler with a middle aged time traveler dad, who's dying in her current present. And it was so cool. Alice is still stuck in her high school, without a husband or kids and she's always wondering what would be different if she did something differently in her past. What if she confessed to her crush and married him? And similar questions. And the answer is of course it wouldn't work out, because it's not her path. This is a similar message to The Midnight Library, which I also love. These books are right up my alley. This way of time travelling is really fun and revealing for the characters and sometimes I find myself wishing I could also travel back to my past. Not to change things but just see how it could have gone wrong. Anyway this book is really something and I really loved the story, the characters and the writing. The ending was sort of empty, like maybe I felt like she would have a bigger goodbye scene with her dad or that we'd find out she's getting closer to Kenji but honestly this one also works, leaves a bit more to the imagination.

There’s something in ES’s writing style that does not win my over like it does my friends, but I thought this story to be optimist and charming.

One day you're having drinks with your best friend to celebrate your 40th birthday and the next you're trying to figure out how the hell you woke up back in your 16 year-old body. This is the reality for Alice in this funny, big-hearted time travel novel that is chock-full of 90s nostalgia. This Time Tomorrow wrestles with what ifs and our desire to protect the people we love in a way that is as authentic as it is poignant. You're in good hands with this novel.
