This book follows Violet who is made to join the dragon riders quadrant by her mother, a general of the Basgiath War College, despite having trained her whole life for the scribe quadrant.

We follow Violet during her first year of dragon rider training and the relationships she develops along the way. Violet is a lovable character you can’t help but root for and the relationship she forms with Xeden is captivating a true enemies to lovers plot line.

The final few chapters were emotional, tense and heartbreaking but the ending was so unexpected you can’t possibly not reach for the next book in the series and because of that Iron Flame will be my next read.

The writing is amazing. It is a medium to fast paced story but within that time you get to understand the characters and love them all so much.

Was this the perfect book? Nope. But I loved it! It’s been a long time since I’ve devoured a book like I did this one, while simultaneously being consumed by the book. It’s a wonderful feeling.

It’s plenty predictable but you can’t be mad at it because it’s such a good time. I really hope there’s more character development from Mira, Rhiannon, Ridoc and Garrick in book 2, as they’re all pretty one dimensional at the moment. Loved the world building and lore so far and can’t wait for more exploration. Also Dain is incredibly annoying. Flagging for spoilers simply because usually at least know the group above lives haha.
