An adorable and hilarious picture book that I’d read again and again.

This book is hilarious. She just wants to be left alone to complete her knitting.

A grandmother wants some alone time to knit. She leaves her full house to go to the forest, to the mountain, to the moon and beyond. The illustrations are fun and and I love "shouting" in a granny voice. The book got strange after grandmother ventured onto the moon and beyond. The concept of finding peace and quiet then longing for others is appreciated. The addition of aliens and space was a little strange for me. (2017 review)

Returning to this book in 2024 ... this is a fun early elementary story to share. I invited the audience to join me saying, "Leave me alone!"

Simple, clean, masterful cartooning! The story is silly, surprising, and fun to follow.

A grandmother just wants to knit her grandchildren sweaters. Except said grandchildren crawl all over her, chase her yarn balls all over the place, and generally wreak havoc on her peace and quiet. She goes to EXTREME lengths to get away from them and just get everyone to LEAVE HER ALONE.

My absolute favorite part of this book is that, in the end, Grandma gets her peace and quiet. She gets her sweaters knit. And she goes home.

She doesn't get to the quiet place, realize how lonely she is without the children around, and go back.

NOPE. She stayed there, knitted until she ran out of yarn, then went home.

Now THAT is my kind of kids' story. Leave the knitter alone or she will disappear into the void just to avoid your sticky fingers. But when she comes back, she'll have presents.

I like the art style on this one, it reminds me of Gravity Falls. Cute repetition of threes until it reaches a pinnacle of absurdity.
