1,152 pages and not a single one of them was boring, if anything this ended too quickly.

There are moments in this book that I’ll be thinking about for a long time to come and teachings from the characters that I’ll try to implement into my own life.

I loved the ending until I realised to my horror there is no sequel, now I feel I’ve been robbed of so much more of this amazing story.

This is probably my favourite book to date, I will miss my time in medieval Japan

Took over a month for me to read but i enjoyed every last page of it. Beautiful writing and an amazing character arc. Would love to see more like it

A behemoth of a book but a really amazing one. The characters are all very deep and complicated and the political intrigue is top notch. Plus the ending does something very interesting that I'm not sure if a lot of other historical fiction does.
