Very bad ending - unless the writer intends to come back with a book 4...
This has been a pretty erie read - the first two were more powerful than this one... Alex almost didn't hold his character together - Julie was different too... you get the feeling that the writer was tired of writing about this and was just trying to get it done...
there is a story there - and I'm glad I read it - it is worth reading to get some kind of closure on the beginning -
but there was no closure to the story...

I don't know how I feel about this one. I liked the first two books in this series about life after a climate-driven societal collapse, but basically every character in this third novel is a hormone-crazy teenager, and that got old really quickly. I'll still probably track down the fourth volume at some point to see if things rebound, but my library doesn't have a copy, and I don't think it'll be a priority for me.

I'd like to give this more stars. I loved "Life as We Knew It," I really like "The Dead and the Gone," but this final book was a bit of a disappointment. Still acceptable. Still entertaining. But nothing like as intense, brutal and driving as the first two.

Awesome!

I enjoyed the first novel, thought the second was ok, and despised this one. Maybe because I read the first book awhile back but it seemed like the author had completely changed the character's and their personalities. Almost all of them were whiny, selfish and acted in completely illogical ways. The idea in these books presented such an interesting premise but this third book completely ruined it.
