I enjoyed this one much more than Eadlyn's first book
, but tbh, Erik deserved better than Eadlyn. He was definitely the best choice, but I don't think they're compatible at all.
Also, I didn't like the message of the book at all?? But at the same time, highly entertaining. I started it around 8am this morning and finished it at 3:45pm XP

By the time I finished the heir, it was really obvious who she was gonna end up with but that's okay. I just can't believe we didn't get a longer epilogue. We didn't even get a short snippet of them getting married or anything 🙄

I love reading Kiera Cass’s books just because they are easy to read and the characters are developed. I liked Eadlyn as a main female protagonist - especially her journey throughout the series

Kiera has done it again, this book was amazing. The ending as shocking as it was had me crying, screaming, sobbing... I didn't like it until I came off my book depression. Then I was content. I understand why she did what she did. I like how the story progresses and how it truly focuses on 3-5 subplots within the overarching plot itself. the subplots we're very strong and I love how they all had a nice ending.

So the series is over.
Eadlyn's whole arc was rushed. The previous novel, "The Heir" serves as a way to set it all up and then "The Crown" (and possibly a third book that never happened) was supposed to knock them down, but that did not happen. The pace in “The Crown” is extremely fast! The story also follows somewhat of a “and then, and then” format rather than a “this happens so we have to do this because the stakes have been raised,” format.
It’s also extremely hard to root for the characters. Remember when I said “The Heir” doesn’t set up for “The Crown”? This is exactly what I mean. “The Heir” set us up to pull for certain characters who have plot twists in “The Crown” that come out of the blue without any hints ahead of time making it hard for the audience to care.
(*Cough, cough* looking at you Hale and Ean but you know I’m happy for you guys.)
Oooooorrrr the characters that we originally pulled for just don’t exist in this novel and they only become relevant because we an explanation for their absence.
(*Cough, cough* looking at you Kile and Fox.)
Throwing out the characters that we sort of liked in “The Heir” in favour of Erik/Eikko who was originally set up to be a small voice of reason and/or a friend to Eadlyn was not a good choice. It  makes the romance plot line hard to follow because we were set up to root for Kile or even Hale.
The disconnect between “The Heir” and “The Crown” is my largest issue with Eadlyn’s duology.
I could also probably say more but I still have a question:
WHO PUT KILE IN THE SELECTION? I was waiting for it to come back in this book and it never did.
2/5 Stars: 1 Star for entertainment and 1 Star for Kaden (because.)
Overall, the entirety of “The Selection” series was enjoyable. The series brought me a lot of comfort and I’m happy that I read it and I’m unironically so excited for the movie!
