This graphic novel was great! I really loved the artwork, which is perhaps my favorite part of graphic novels. I think I like the more realistic look, and this one had it. The story was wonderful, too, and I'm excited to read more in this series. It's the type of story that, when I finish reading, I can't stop thinking about. What if all the men on Earth died? What would the world be like? I'm thinking of all the jobs out there that are mostly done by males. Things like construction workers, garbage truck drivers, etc. Women would have to step into those roles. It's very interesting to think about, and normally graphic novels really don't have me thinking beyond when I close that last page.

I would recommend this one, for sure.

The premise for this series is that *something* has happened (we are following this story from the main character's POV, so we, like him, don't know exactly what) that wiped out all the men on earth. With the exception of poor Yorick (his father was a Shakespearean buff), who has the dubious distinction of being the last man alive. I know, it sounds like the setup for a bad joke. Its not. ;-)

I think that this is a pretty fun series. We follow Yorick as he travels across this post-Apocalyptic country, and see how people are dealing. Some are trying to survive. Some are waiting for the end. Some dive into religion, some into insanity. Its a good read!

this is why god created comic books (revolutions.com)
i agree this is by far one of the best comic books i have ever read and maybe the best realistic comic book i ever read by far
it tells the story of a teenager Yorick the last man on earth literally
all the men died and only Yorick and his monkey survived the genocide
and now their are amazons who want to kill him
and Israelien women who want to make him breed their generation
there are women who want to sell him and make him the last man whore
you can only imagine the possibilities really
and all that the poor guy really wants is get to his girlfriend and give her proposition ring.

Fine enough as a beginning, was expecting a lot more considering how critically acclaimed this series is. Yorick is an insufferable goon, everyone else is a forgettable stereotype.

I normally enjoy Brian K. Vaughan’s work but how do you manage to have a story with 99% female characters so focused on a man?!? And even scenes without him don’t often pass the Bechdel test. Yikes.
