good first read of the year. i honestly loved how hard Amy made it for her ex-husband to walk back into their lives. she owed him nothing. make him work for it.

As a librarian and former teacher, I think "some" of the librarianship tropes were off. It seemed to come from a place of librarian admiration and interviews rather than first-hand experience but at least it was coming from a place of idealism and bits of it were relatable. Some of the catch phrases were used too often and kind of lost their novelty from over-use. I really liked the characters though. I liked seeing the character growth and learning more of the characters' backstories in the last quarter. I also liked the way the resolution was realistic and not super tidy. Overall, this was a nice fairly light-hearted read which is just what I was looking for. (Copying part of my review on Goodreads.)

Quickly engaging, thoughtful and vicarious romp. I can particularly relate to an upper grades librarian who loves the challenge of hooking reluctant readers.
