This family really likes snakes and teaches a young girl how cool they can really be! This is a nicely illustrated book with some cool facts about snakes! If you don't like something maybe you could give it a chance and learn a few things about them and see if it changes your mind! Snakes are pretty cool! ~Ashley

Cool meta-nonfiction where a girl is learning about snakes throughout the book and just might change her mind about all the reasons she doesn't like snakes!

This story combines both fictional and nonfictional elements, all illustrated with wonderfully detailed colored pencil sketches. On each page, a little girl gives her reasoning for disliking snakes. The opposite page explains the reasons why snakes are this way, for example, why snakes don’t blink, why their scales look slimy, and how they move by slithering. There is an issue on one page (a coral snake is shown with red stripes near black), but a note on the front page states that this will be resolved in the next printing. This book has a little something for every reader, perfect for reaching a wide audience.

Wonderful way to introduce snake facts to young readers. Love this structure for nonfiction picture books. Well, what I consider nonfiction - found this in the fiction section of our library!

Although I really do hate snakes, and the wonderful illustrations creeper me out a bit, this is a good book. Fun and informative - especially liked the Index at the end that teaches kids how to use an index and read an informational book one this.

"Story" on one side with lots of facts and pictures on the other to support it. A fun way to introduce how interesting snakes are.

Beautiful pictures and a silly story highlight some fascinating facts about snakes. Our favorite part was learning that snakes fly, and they smell with their tongues.
