Homo stupidus
I think the best review about this book is really this: "The author just got a bit high on weed and then started writing. "
The whole stupid idea of this rubbish-allegedly-named-book is to say that: God is dead guys, Science is the true God.
Harari in this book is just full of shit. The book is a standing example of how you can bring together some utter nonsense, with pure rubbish and mental shit, mix them together, add juvenile exuberance, put a shiny cover and then sell it out and people are supposed to digest without noticing!!
The book is full of oversimplifications and plain wrong statements, like the fact that eating sugar is an etiology of diabetes - just to give one example. He clearly has little understanding -if any- of what he is trying to talk about. He is a historian who woke up some day and thought: "Oh man, science is so easy, I understand it all, let me write a scientific book to the stupid readers to tell them that God is dead. "
Like some other reader stated:"He falls victim to countless conceptual conceptions, his arguments are full of holes, he overstates his confusions, and shows a shocking ignorance of existing discussions in philosophy mind, social ontology, ethics, etc. But this cluelessness does not prevent him from giving what he supposes to be definite answers on a slew of very difficult and controversial issues in philosophy."
It is funny that he claimed, in the beginning of the book, as if he is a Nobel-laureate scientist, saying that plagues will no longer control human life as science have controlled them! What an irony that he lives through the pandemic and realize how stupid his mind is.

يحزنني جدا أن أجد مثل هذا الغثاء مترجما إلى العربية، في حين أن المترجمين و دور النشر يهملون الكثير مما هو أنفع و أفضل.
هذا كتاب كل هم كاتبه أن يقول أن الإنسان قد تطور و رمى خلفه الدين و وهم الإله، و أنه لا إله إلا العلم و المعلوماتية و أن الديانات المتوارثة ما هي إلا وهم جمعي خضع له الإنسان عبر التاريخ و لا بد أن ينفض عنه أصفاد هذا الوهم.
المشكلة أن يوفال مؤرخ، فكيف لمؤرخ أن يتحدث في العلم؟ كيف يمكن لكتاب بمثل هذه التفاهة و السطحية أن يقنعك بأي فكرة من أفكاره المتهافتة؟ تخيل أن تقرأ كتابا من المفترض أنه كتاب علمي و تجد الكاتب يقول أن المأكولات السكرية هي السبب في حدوث مرض السكري؟ و أن تجده مصرا على إنكار وجود الإله لأنه لم يراه رأي العين، و ينكر وجود الروح لنفس السبب، و يتمسك بوجود العقل الذي لم يراه مع اعترافه أنه لا يوجد دليل ملموس على وجوده و لكننا كلنا نشعر بوجوده!!
الكتاب عبارة عن مقالات متهافتة مهترأة تشمل محاولات سفسطة فاشلة لاقناعك أن ما تقرأه مهم، و ما هو إلا فضلات عقل مريض و نفس أمارة بالسوء.
من المحزن أن أجد بعضا من القراء العرب يقع فريسة لمثل هذا الغثاء، لكن المشكلة هي الوعي و هي أهواء دور النشر و رغبتها في المكاسب المادية بغض النظر عن رداءة المحتوى.
لا يمكن لأي شخص درس قليلا من العلم أن لا يلاحظ رداءة الفكر و ضحالة المحتوى، و السعي الحثيث طوال الكتاب على اجتزاء أفكار من أبحاث علمية، و قطعها من سياقها و لي حقيقتها في محاولة لإقناعك أنه عالم، و ما هو إلا سفيه.
لو أنه أخطأ مرة أو مرتين، أو لو أنه التزم الحياد و الصدق في نقل البحث العلمي لالتمست له مئات الأعذار، و لكن حين تجد مؤرخا و أستاذا جامعيا يقع في أخطاء لا تقبلها من طفل في مدرسة، و يدلس الحقائق عامدا، فلا يسعك إلا أن تقذف بكتابه في سلة القمامة، و بكاتبه في مزبلة التاريخ.

Odotin ehkä liikaa tältä tulevaisuuden arvailua, 2/3 kirjasta käsittelikin historiaa. Ei kuitenkaan mikään huono tai turha kirja, ei vaan siitä mitä kuvittelin sen olevan!
I enjoyed this book, even if, having it right after I finished Homo Sapiens, quite a few of the examples repeating was a bit of a bummer. I did enjoy Sapiens more though, this one reads much more like a speculative fiction which... Technically it is
