The author has some interesting points but he’s very single-minded about what he thinks is the future of humanity. This single-mindedness, whether intentional or not, cannot help the reader feel that while the human race may survive, what gives us our humanity is inefficient and ultimately destined for the evolutionary garbage bin.
Jadi enak bacanya (walaupun butuh 8 bulan buat kelar wkwkwk)

In Homo Deus, Yuval Noah Harari's follow-up to his bestseller Sapiens, he imagines how humanity might come to inhabit our definition of god -- a branching off of the theoretical subspecies Homo deus from the tree of Homo sapien. Through technological advancements and conscious modification, he suggests that our descendents might constitute a completely different species. Harari also makes several compelling points about our current society like the fact that we've already successfully made human cyborgs, that technological advancements are overwhelmingly used to enhance the wealthy rather than the needy, and that because we can't conceive of future technology, we have literally no idea what we should be teaching our children in school. He envisions radical shifts in global society: the end of work, the advent of immortality, the abandonment of the body itself. It's a compelling glimpse of a bleak yet fascinating potential future.

Harari has a way of making such meta, complex ideas very tangible for a broad audience. I really enjoyed his concrete examples of how data could one day know us better than we know ourselves. Where will that leave us? What kind of life are we even striving for? When will tech, especially medicine and striving for longevity, go too far? Is there a ‘too far’? These are questions I’ve never stopped to consider, which surprised me as we interact with these technologies constantly. I really enjoyed this read—despite being such a lengthy read, it flew by.
A well written book that is easy to read and understand.
It has some blowminding ideas that makes you spend time thinking of them.
Touches upon subjects that are relevant for everyone, in a pragmatic and objective manner.
I totally loved it and I am going to read it again. I really recomment it.

Reread Sapiens before I started this. Had a hard time getting through the end because it's just very information dense, especially after reading these back to back.

”History isn’t a single narrative, but thousands of alternative narratives. Whenever we choose to tell one, we are also choosing to silence others.”
I enjoyed this so much more than I had with Sapiens because it felt more accessible, approachable and relatable. This book is more about the things we think now that can lead to the future, with relevant examples from the past. Some of it was quite over excessive and over explained but overall, I do want to come back to some of his points and re-examine them with a different mind frame I have now.
I recommend, but with caution, because even though it’s better than Sapiens (in my opinion), it’s still a relatively dense book.
