I think the ending cheapened the progress of the main characters. We had a really raw, honest, deep experience for the ending to be such a picture perfect miracle.

Another solid “straight romance” in the books, and Jimenez definitely kept this fast-paced and moving forward. Just as with Book 2 I read the majority of this in three hours because it was compelling enough and I wanted to see what would happen. Very melodramatic but also depicts — as does Book 2 in the series — very real emotions around grief, trauma, and chronic illness. Actually does make me want to go back and read Book 2 again! And in straight romance, I enjoy when the guy is TOTALLY MADLY EXTREMELY in love with the woman.

Sigh. Okay. I love that the author tries to write stories that are rooted in reality. And health issues the MC, Kristen is based on her friend. So she had a pool of knowledge to go with and I understand that in real life her friend was able to conceive despite these challenges. However the way it is written in the book is so weirdly selfish and the OCD is so stereotypical. That being said, I do still really like how she writes every day conversations. Those feel natural and like you can imagine sitting down and talking to your friends like that.
I also certainly was not expecting a side character death in this book that i believe is featured in the following book? Woof. I’m a completionist so I will be reading the other two but I’ll have to prepare myself for that if that is the case.

reallyyyyy dislike the characters… the tacos in skid row and fearing the unhoused I was like ok? the military of it all? quirkier than life fmc was crazyyy
but I’ll be damned if abby jimenez didn’t make me emotional with the last quarter there!
also, I will never LIKE idea of miscommunication/lack of communication in a romance,,,
