There were a few things that drove me crazy such as the miscommunication trope and I wish Kristen didn't string along her first boyfriend. I know she was trying to find her happiness with the cards she was dealt, but it doesn't mean you stop using your voice.

However I did love her friendship with Sloan and I loved Josh's friendship with Sloan's fiancee. The found family feeling of the firehouse in general.

The character arcs and growth did take a bit to get there but it when they did, I was proud of them.

The author's note did raise my rating because I feel you deserve to know you are not alone in your diagnoses or journey.

Extremely gendered and typecast leads. MC can’t get out of her own way. Tragedy used as plot device to bring MCs together. Surprise pregnancy feels disingenuous given the emphasis on infertility.

This book was good! I also was not expecting the plot twist that occurred.đź’”My main take away is that you’re never sparing anyone’s feelings by pushing them away because it’s what YOU think is best for THEM. If you have something you THINK they’ll look at you differently for or would be “giving up”, then be honest and upfront (no matter how embarrassing or hard it may be) and let THEM make their own decisions. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and feelings, if they decide they’d still like to be with you or apart of your life after your “confession” then so be it.

First of all, I love anything Abby Jimenez creates. But this book hit me hard so many times, I don’t think I was ready for the journey. She creates such real characters and as much as I was yelling at my phone for them to say something to each other, I know I would’ve been the same way. Great book

There should not be heartbreaking tragedy in romance. I'm glad this was not my first read of this author because I wouldn't trust any of her other books. However, I still got The Emotions at times and the writing was solid.
