Ghost story
The Family Plot was a ghost story with a twist. The house is due to be raised. A salvage company is hired to remove anything valuable to resell.
So many creepy moments. The who and why of the ghost was a nice history that held up to the author's reveal. That last chapter though. Going to leave a light on tonight.

If you, like me, heard "house", "ghost", and "pickers" and your ears perked up, you'll probably have a decent time with this book.

I was truly taken in be the story. I highly recommend this novel for haunting fans. It's my first real ghost story read, and it sets a high bar. Wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm very glad I jumped in.

Haunted house books are supposed to be scary, and this one just... isn't. The plot was interesting enough to hold my attention, but chills were decidedly missing.

I'm generally not a massive fan of gothic, and whole this book had excellent build-up, it really didn't deliver by the end (and the epilogue ruins it further). The prose was alright, and I didn't find myself stuck at any point.
