It's so prevalent, it even has a hashtag..#mmiw murdered missing indigenous women. Out for a run, Quill is certain she hears a woman's scream. That opens the book. After that, Quill, married with two children, agrees to no longer run by herself even in broad daylight. As the pipeline comes to Minnesota, so do the men. And women start going missing. Quill is a true heroine and refuses to stop looking for these women, at a peril to herself. Truly immersive and harrowing. This is one you won't easily forget with characters you won't forget. Review - Where They Last Saw Her by Marcie R. Rendon

This book had so much potential, but it ended up being just okay for me. I think the premise had so much promise, and I love the cold Minnesota setting and strong women characters, but the plot dragged quite a bit and I felt like the author did much more telling than showing the events of the plot. Instead of being present in the moment there was a lot of passive language and references to reading about drama on social media. When the main characters, Quill, is at the center of a very active scene, the description of events felt clunky, as did much of the dialogue. There are so many references to everyday life which in some cases can make the plot feel very real and lived in, but there are only so many times I want to hear about Quill heating up dinner for her kids in the crockpot or having a cup of coffee. For a short book it felt sort of endless, and while I was intrigued by the story, the execution did not live up to my expectations and the mundanity made the thriller aspects seem completely farcical. 2.5 rounded up to 3/5 stars.

A good audiobook, and a pacy, dramatic book. Not sure I loved the MC, and not really sure she realized the damage caused to her friends and family by her impulsiveness. But I’m happy it all worked out for her & her friends!

I felt so anxious reading this, which is what I want to experience with a thriller/mystery. I was fully immersed - yelling at Quill & her questionable decisions, cheering her & her friends on

This is an important topic, but Quill makes some of the most unhinged and inexplicable decisions.
