I didn't hate this book. I also didn't love it. The whole thing felt like a long prologue which could have been much shorter and faster paced. But I finally got through it after I put it down for a while. I probably will continue the series, it's sparked my interest. I just hope the next book has a little more conflict or struggle.

I saw the plotwist coming miles away (chapter five to be precise) long before it was revealed on Chapter 26. So here's my observation so far;

Raisa, Blood of the demon! I don't like this girl. Never have I ever hated a main character as much as I hated her. She's a brat! She kisses boys the way she breathes air, it's a wonder she hadn't catch mononucleosis at this stage. She's selfish, she wants to help people yes. But she doesn't give two shits if she might endangered others in return. She fantasizes three boys at the same time! What the fuck was that? but she's also the type of girl who likes to take matters at her own hands, she cares about the people around her just not knowing how to properly express herself (I guess). She had grown a little by the end of the book and I think that I might actually love her by the end of this series. I just need some time.

Hans, he might be the only one that made me finish this book. He might also be the one who motivated me to set aside my hatred for the brat princess.

There's Micah, Amon, Captain Byrne, Averill, Willo, Mam, Mira, Dancer, Bird etc. and I like them all except for Micah and his jerk father.

Maybe I would've like this book if not for the fact that I kept comparing it to the Falling Kingdoms Series, maybe if I read this first I wouldn't be this hard to the characters.
I was dragging myself most of the time just to finish this novel, reading this was like eating without chewing you just swallow it without tasting. Most of the time I was like "Okay, that happened now what? The world building was great, I love the connections between the Queens, The Wizards and the Clans but it was too slow to enjoy and emerse myself with. So I guess I'll be giving this one a 3.5 out of 5 stars

I'm looking forward to the other books tho.

I liked it a lot. Of course. Why would I have given it five stars otherwise?
I think it's great how Cinda manages to wind the people's lives together without taking the obvious route. I'm looking forward for the next book.

This is a fantasy novel about a matriarchal queendom. Wizards are the villains here.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed both sides of this story!. I loved all the detail that was put into the world and the characters. My only issue was Hans reaction to the death of his mother and sister. He didnt really seem too bothered. Other than that it was brill and i cant wait to read the rest :D
