okay second i’ve read by grace reilly and im convinced she’s never met a real man in her life bc these mmc are too perfect… like first w james in first down (literally the most ideal man that couldn’t do anything wrong ever) and now with cooper who is just as lovable and perfect wtf. i loved penny and how she was trying to regain the power of her life and rewrite her story and how easy the relationship for her and cooper was like even tho they weren’t dating for awhile cooper still treated her like she was the most precious thing on earth.. again obviously grace reilly hasn’t met a man before bc he was too perfect like honestly they story could’ve been trash but with characters as lovable and perfect as penny and cooper it’s hard to hate a book like this

Penny has a very important list of things she wishes to accomplish that will help her be free of her past. The contents of this list is all things sexual. Her best friend Mia convinces her to ask star hockey player Cooper, to help her accomplish this list. The problem with this plan is Penny’s dad is the coach of the hockey team, and penny has sworn to never date a hockey player again. But a friends with benefits she could get on board with.
When Cooper volunteers to help Penny teach littles how to skate, the last thing on his mind was hooking up in the closet and the possibility of so much more.

I really liked this book. I laughed, my heart melted, Cooper is the perfect definition of a book boyfriend. He has made the list of men I wish existed. The way he presents as a play boy, but beneath that he is a soft hearted, romantic, looking for approval and not wanting to feel like second choice.
Penny really finds herself in this book, she find her confidence and self love. And in cooper she finds her safe place. I wish there was more of an epilogue further in the future.

Omg I loves this so so so much, Cooper is so fucking adorable, sexy and giving I want him for myself. He is so understanding and goes at Penny's pace to make her feel comfortable. And how Penny is so fierce and loving.

REVIEW: BREAKAWAY BY GRACE REILLY

RATING: 4/5 ⭐️

SYNOPSIS: Cooper: As a pro-bound college athlete with a good-time reputation, I usually have my pick of puck bunnies. But lately, I’ve been in a dry spell that feels more like a curse, and the stress is affecting my game—the one thing that can’t happen if I’m going to make team captain, and eventually the NHL. Enter Penny. She’s my coach’s daughter, but the moment she pulls me into that ice rink closet, she’s the one thing on my mind besides hockey. She has a sex bucket list, and each item on it confirms we’re kindred spirits in the bedroom. If I say yes, I’ll be relaxed on the ice again—but if her dad finds out, I’ll be forced to say goodbye to being captain and finally earning my own father’s approval.

Penny: Thanks to the ex from hell, I’m a long way from being ready for a relationship—but it’s time to reclaim my agency, one long-sought-after experience in bed at a time. Enter Cooper. He’s my dad’s star defenseman; an arrangement with him will mean keeping yet another major secret from my father. But the agreement we strike is simple: secret friends-with-benefits until he makes captain…and I cross off everything on my list, so I can finally move on from the incident that ruined both my life and my figure skating career. Yet the longer our connection goes on, the more we trust each other, and the less I want to say goodbye. I know love leads to heartbreak, but what if it can also clear the ice for a breakaway?

cute !!!! but also

3.75 stars I think!

I absolutely loved this book but I did have to pause reading it for crescent city which is why it’s taken me so long to finish.

I don’t remember EVERYTHING, but I love the banter and the relationship between Cooper and Penny. I think that they handle their relationship very maturely and I honestly loved this pairing more than Bex and James in the first one. But that’s just my opinion.

I cannot wait to read Sebastian’s story next!
