I really like this book and read it in one weekend. It is a take on vampire ethics through a cute small town family. It has family drama, gore, and the struggles of modernity. Not your average vampire family but the set up is amazing!
Graphic: Bullying, Gore, Homophobia, Sexual assault, Violence, Blood, Death of parent, and Murder

How......how does someone make a novel about vampires.....pedestrian and boring?
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think the show adaptation will actually be better than the book lol 🙃

I read this book in 1 day. It took me this long because A. I couldn't put it down because it was very entertaining and B. it was an easy read. This can both a good thing and a bad thing but sometimes you just want to read something that is really enjoyable and doesn't require a lot of concentration. I know there is a bunch of vampire books out there but this was a vampire novel for adults. It had an interesting and different take and I really enjoyed the imagination of the author. I do wish it had been longer and the story had been a little more involved. Especially toward the end. I felt the ending was rushed. Which is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. But it was definitely worth the read and I hope the author turns this into a series because I find myself wanting to know more about the Radleys.

Clara and Rowan live with sub-standard metabolisms, they have a constant rash, can't eat garlic, must wear sunscreen all the time while their parents have a very boring hum-drum life in an English town. What they don't know is that they're actually vampires. Well they don't know until Clara is attacked and kills a boy. Then things get complicated and everyone in the family has to face up to the reality of who they are and what makes them different.
It's an interesting idea but I wasn't impressed, it wasn't bad, it just has an interesting idea and ran with it but didn't develop the characters in any great detail. A light read that kept me reading but didn't make me want to read more by that author or make me want more of the story.
