I really liked the roller derby part of the book and the beginning story was so cute! I still wonder where the map leads though.

The first chapter of this volume sort of feels disjointed, as it’s not really related to the arc of the volume. However, I’m kind of glad it was included, because we haven’t really got to see Barney settling in as a Lumberjane, and them feeling like an outsider when placed in the tight-knit Zodiac cabin.
The volume overall was a lot of fun! Definitely a “filler episode”, but I was completely enamoured by the roller derby element. I love the concept of rollerskating (the aesthetic, how it feels to skate, and the community), but knew next to nothing about derby before reading this book! I am now desperate to read more books featuring it. But to be honest, I think if I hadn’t been so taken by this element, I would have rated this volume 3.5 stars at most.
I am so intrigued by Molly’s background. The writers have been hinting at it for a few volumes now, including in this one, and I feel like they’ll reveal a lot more in the next volume, “Parents' Day”. Another thing I hope to see in that volume is development of the broader storyline. While filler volumes can be entertaining, like this one, Lumberjanes is at its best when the bigger picture is involved.

Roller Derby. I really want more Barney. Let them shine! Lumberjanes does a great job with queer representation and they did a quick & dirty pronoun lesson, but Barney has been mostly just quick flashes.

I loved seeing a bit more of Barney. They are a wonderful addition to camp.
