I think this book was overall pretty good, there were a lot of scenes that felt real and the author did a great job and getting you immersed in the scene. There were definitely things I didn’t like where scenes went on too long or it felt like the language switched to be more poetic for no reason. The POV also switched up a lot, which was strange.

Ju’s character was so poorly written to me, especially compared to King who felt more developed. Ju felt like she was there to be an accessory to everything else going on.

The last section of the book left a lot of things up to interpretation, which was good and bad. I think it is nice to have the ambiguity, but some characters feel like they could’ve just finished. Charles Wickhamshire for example, I’m not sure why we met Martin and had them plan how to unite African ministers and everything just for the story to end.
