Olivia's mother and manager exploit her for money and are extremely abusive. They also get her addicted to pills to cope with her anxiety. Olivia rarely gets to go out, but when she finally attends a hockey game, she heckles Walker and has a one-night stand with Walker, a hockey player. This encounter unexpectedly develops into something much deeper.
Walker crosses the line from the very start of their relationship when she agrees to a one-night stand with him. Poking holes in the condom was wrong on so many levels, and throughout that night, he behaved overly dominant in several ways. He stalks her and even employs a private investigator to get information that he can use to make her his.
His hockey buddies in the "circle of trust" encourage him to get a unique piercing. I’ll let you read about that because it’s quite wild. Although he resorts to some questionable actions to win her over, at least he gets her away from her controlling mother and manager, who were making her life miserable.
They fall in love, and she becomes friends with the wives of Walker's friends from the "circle of trust."
Many things can occur along the way that require warnings. I believe there are some trigger warnings I should share.
There is what I consider sexual assault by her manager, exploitation by her mother and manager, and prescription drug abuse in the past, and also once in the current time. There is birth control tampering that involves poking holes in a condom and stalking

The Pucking Wrong Date by C.R. Jane is the third installment in the series, and while it didn’t quite match the humor of the second book, it still delivered a solid punch of drama and intrigue.
This one dives into the story of Walker and Olivia, exploring their darker, obsessive dynamics—though nothing too heavy. The spicy scenes? Oh, they’re as sizzling as ever, keeping the heat alive throughout.

The narrators once again nailed it, bringing the characters to life with flair. Unfortunately, my library doesn’t have the rest of the series on Libby, so this is where my journey ends for now. But honestly, I’m not too heartbroken—each book stands strong on its own, focusing on different couples while weaving in subtle crossovers. A satisfying listen, even if it’s my last for now.
I will certainly be looking for more by C.R. Jane in the future.

Walker’s obsession with Olivia was crazy. Although the story did deal with dark themes it wasn’t a super dark romance in my opinion. There were a couple scenes that were intense but overall it was a mild dark romance for me. I love that Olivia got her happy ending and that both Jolette and Marco got what they deserved! The friendship between Lincoln, Ari and Walker was super cute to see and the relationship between Walker and his brothers was also great. I’m glad Olivia made friends in the end and wasn’t so alone anymore.
