Gay and heartbreaking, what else could I ask for
The book They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera is a Science Fiction book. This story is set on September 5, 2017 in New York City, New York where a company, Death-Cast, can accurately predict the day you die. You get a call from Death-Cast the day you die saying you will die in the next twenty-four hours and the two main characters get this call. Due to factors in their life they have no one to spend their last days with, so they go to an app call Last Friend, an app for people who die that day to meet other people and be happy on their last day, meet each other and spend the day together. The two main character in this novel are Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio. Mateo is an 18 year old boy who get the Death-Cast call and decides he wants to go out and experience the world before he dies. Rufus is an 17 year old orphan who get the call from the Death-Cast he wanted to spend his last day with his friends but the cops are after him and he is on the run. There are many different styles of conflict in this book but I have to say man v.s. nature is the main one: because the main characters struggle with death. Three exciting scenes in the book is Mateo and Rufus getting their Death-Cast calls, the boys going to the Travel Arena, and the boys with their friends at the at Clint’s Graveyard, a club for people who die that day and their friends party before they die. I would recommend this book because of three reasons: the unique concept, the relationship between the characters, and the writing style.
