Sometimes the twitter-speak was a bit too much for me (please don't say "yass kween" in your published book) but the stories of these women were amazing! And I'm absolutely in love with the illustrations. The art style is gorgeous and cohesive and makes this a great display book after you enjoy its contents.

This is the book you give kids who grew up on Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls when they're in high school. I learned about some of the women mentioned her first from Rebel Girls, but most of them were new to me or at least covered in ways I hadn't read before. While these are all short entries (roughly 2 pages), I like how Lee acknowledges the difficulty in reporting on historical figures who often weren't the main subject of history as viewed during the times these women lived (or shortly after). The illustrations are fabulous. This is just a really well done book throughout.

I wanted to love this- it seemed like a grown up version of the Rebel Girls books. The women represented are truly badass, and deserve all the glory. But the writing is too casual. I was distracted by the grammatical and spelling errors and had a hard time staying engaged. I hope this can be republished after a strong copy editing. These stories need to be told.

It delivered what it promised I got to learn about interesting women and I really jammed with the author´s writing style (I already read something similar and it was a tragedy when the writing did not suit me). Also the ilustration were gorgeous.

First off let me say what a gorgeous book.

Second, you need to read this book. I had not heard of most of the women in this book, which is too bad because they are all amazing. Scientists, athletes, and just plain badass ladies doing amazing things.

I’m proud of myself for how many of these badass ladies I actually knew about already #historynerd and I was delighted to learn about the ones that I didn’t. Fascinating read. Definitely pick this book up if you’re interested in learning a little about diverse ladies from all over the world.

It’s definitely a great book. I didn’t know any of the women mentioned beforehand. The only reason for 4/5 stars is the language used. Like the use of some AAVE by a white author. Otherwise it’s a great read. If you like drunk history then you’ll love this book.

This is such an inspiring collection of stories! Mackenzi Lee's writing perfectly blends her humour and facts and I couldn't have enjoyed the book any more. My one complaint is that I don't believe the book was edited very well, as there were many clear errors - mostly inconsistent dates and spellings.
