shittiest book i’ve ever read

3.5 stars ✨
Let me start by saying that i picked this up spontaneously because it was free on Kindle Unlimited and it's by Colleen Hoover and I've read one of her books (Confess) and liked it enough (years ago) to want to try more of her books. I did NOT expect or realise that this was going to be a PARANORMAL lol and with actual GHOSTS. I AM FREAKING SCARED OF GHOSTS i finished reading this in the dark and got so spooked i struggled to fall asleep hahaha. Anyway on to the review.

I didn't expect to like this after reading the first few chapters, and was ready to rate it 1-2 stars because i just was not a fan of unrealistic insta-love and i didn't like reading the main character's pov i think he's kinda a dick. But what i did like was the overall plot, as unrealistic as it is, and the storytelling, which kept me hooked up until the end (and i finished it in just over a day).

Although the whole paranormal ghost thing freaked me out, it was actually really interesting and it became a mystery novel to figure out what the hell was going on. That, added with the complexity of emotions and moral dilemmas the characters experienced was quite the rollercoaster. I think i would have liked the book a lot more if it wasn't insta-love and if the main character was just more likeable. Liked the concept though.

I feel like when an author writes in a way that makes you hate a main character and then allows you to forgive and understand or at least make some sense of that characters emotion/actions - then that’s a good book!
dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced

This book was different than I expected it to be, but SO good!!

This was a strange read, spent most of the time reading this book having major contempt for the main character of the book. Then when the twist comes it is just otherworldly in a way that I don't know what to make of.

This book was a trip to say the least… I expected to like it more than I did but found myself struggling to get through it at points. I sometimes struggle with finding the characters in CoHo’s books annoying and that definitely happened a few times with this one.

plot twist!

this had me going THROUGH it!! this was a really good plot twist! I had NO idea what to expect
