This book did get a little dark for me at times, and could get pretty violent, however the characters and the plot itself was fairly interesting and was told very well and kept me interested, so I’d say it was definitely worth reading.

While I liked the world building here, the characters and the plot were just too predictable and did not hold my interest. Add to that the violence and sadism, and I just didn't feel compelled to finish. I probably read about half the book. My husband read the whole thing (very quickly) and enjoyed it well enough to ask if there was a sequel.
