Really surprised this book is so well rated. It started out great, like the first 30 pages. Since then I've been struggling to get through it. I'm just over half way through it and can't do it anymore.

friend recommendation. not my thing, but not bad either.

This book is beautifully written, and the plot is certainly compelling. However, for me, several of the more significant characters in the book felt incredibly underdeveloped, and as a result, their role in the story just felt disjointed. That was enough to keep the whole book feeling more superficial than it otherwise would have been.

I wasn't really in love with this book. It was interesting, and I did like and respect Weldon, the main character. The problem I had was that the book took all these things that should have been exciting and made them so much less so. I never seemed to WANT to pick up the book and find out what happened next, and revelations about what was going on always seemed to be a let down.

With so many things going on like rescuing his future wife from the Nazis; meeting Bonnie and Clyde; and the conspiricy that was out to get him and his company, one would think the reader would be on the edge of their seat. The meandering style of the writing dulled some of the more heart pumping plot points.

I really wanted to love it as there is nothing like getting sucked into a new series...

This is a top class book. A real page tuner set in late Nineteen Forties America. A book I would definitely read again.

This is marvellous book about good and evil. How evil people can affect someone's life.

Quit about 1/2 way through. The author’s writing is very good and quite poetic at times. I didn’t finish because I think if you’re halfway through a book and you are still not interested in the characters, it’s time to let go. Plus the subject matter of gas pipelines was boring and I found very little humor in the story. I don’t think I’ll pursue further reading of this author.
