Just like with the Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte: saying this is a romance is insane to me, its clearly not the point. There's just no way for me to read this as anything other then the goth story of a guy who got rejected and just TRASHED two families over two generations without any humanity or regret. Its so camp and so unbelievable to think this victorian woman sitting in Yorkshire imagined and wrote down all of this! Emily Bronte was unhinged and my fascination knows no bounds.

Very sloooow. Didn’t like any of the characters, but I was sucked in?! You definitely have to read between the lines with this one; It’s not a simple read. I think that’s what drove me to keep reading; I needed to figure it out. I needed to figure out what the fuck was actually going on, and I still don’t even know. The “lovey dovey” quotes and dialogue are beautiful, but I’m having a hard time connecting the feelings to the characters. I wasn’t feeling much chemistry between the two, and maybe that’s why I don’t know what the point of this whole novel was.
I feel indifferent.
