Very cute children’s story. Would be a fun read aloud for the older elementary school set. Think 101 Dalmatians or Mr. Popper’s Penguins but with cats.

Cute story, but a bit boring, have to note though that it’s great for beginner Dutch learners!

I enjoyed this book, but there are some scenes that might be upsetting to the intended age group.

What a delightful read. I enjoyed it from page one to the end. Saw the movie many years before and the book is way beter. Read it in one sitting.

Shy reporter Mr. Tibble gets in trouble with the editor of the paper when he writes yet another story about cats. He can’t help it that he is more interested in cats than people—and gets along with them better, too. Then he meets Miss Minou, a cat who has mysteriously transformed into a human. As Mr. Tibble helps Miss Minou to behave like a human, she gives him the scoop on the best news stories from around town.

This is a translation of a popular Dutch title, and there were definitely parts of the story that seemed very European. For example, the story being based entirely around adults (both humans and felines) and their somewhat adult problems (Mr. Tibble trying to keep his job, the Tatter Cat as an overworked mother, neighbors inquiring about Mr. Tibble and Miss Minou living together). However, while different, the story will still hold readers’ interest.
