A lovely look into the restoration of an English stately garden. The book is informative but written in a friendly manner, so by the end you feel invested in Heligan.
Though it is obviously centred around the garden, there is still a focus on local and genealogical history, and these elements complement the restoration process well.
I recommend this for anyone who’s interested in English stately homes, gardening, or who, as I did, likes both history and The Secret Garden.
