DNF ew just ewwwwwww

This one is odd. I had to remind myself to stay very objective while listening to it. It would be a great primer/instruction book for a narcissist or sociopath who wants tips on how to control people. I tried to treat it like a cautionary tale - what I should look out for in others who may be trying to “seduce” me. Would I read it again? Prob not.

DNF for now.....this seems very judging and not very scientific.

Good if you look to defend against these tactics.

I've seen this book mentioned so many times that by the time I read it, I felt like I already knew the things it would teach me.

It's a great book if you want to get in an emotionally manipulative relationship where you are the asshole.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not shitting on Robert Greene, in fact I respect him and really enjoy him in interviews and such. It's just that nobody would really want to be in a relationship like this. It'd be exhausting to constantly have to play games.

Mr. Greene has some insight on human nature and some of the things he writes about are true. He also does mention that these tactics only work on those who are dissatisfied with their lives.

If anything, this book made me think of how important it is to work on yourself and cultivate a strong sense of self esteem. Dissatisfied people aren't only seduced romantically, they fall pray to consumerism too.

Overall, it's an enjoyable book, especially if you're into history and psychology.

As usual, never read Greene at face value, but just a way to hear about historical anecdotes linked with a common theme.

It's an interesting read. The material is educational. After reading, you may be better equipped to identify how  or why people present themselves in particular/situations manners.
informative lighthearted medium-paced

Read it for the history tidbits, maybe learn some positive social ques. Try not to become a weirdo manipulator/predator.

I'd say Robert Greene is very fucking weird.
