Aurora and Apollo, the absolutely beautiful people that you are🥹👏 I’ve been waiting for the last Leona’s book since the first one came out bc the chemistry between these two was apparent from their very first meeting and they did not disappoint🙂‍↕️🫶 The mixture of inner turmoil, history, and outside influences is handled so well in this series and especially so in this one. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves historical romance, especially Beverly Jenkins novels👏

I thought we were past the point where a man refusing to respect a woman's boundaries because "he knows best" was seen as sweet, but I guess not...

Also, the commentary on women's health in the 1800s, while nice to see, was very on the nose and heavy handed. The plot wasn't really making sense either (the clinic the FMC ran was constantly hiding from the police, yet they decided to throw a benefit gala?)

I do like the author's writing style overall, I might go back and read the first two even though I didn't like this one!

What a satisfying delectable conclusion to the Las Leonas series.

The buttoned up sensible friend isn’t so innocent!

It was incredibly interesting reading about women’s health in Victorian era Paris. The topics were headier and more serious and you understood with Aurora was so stubborn. Her backstory made me cry.

I love a man who’s down bad for a fiery, stubborn headstrong woman. Aurora and Apollo’s relationship progression was a sight to behold. The witty banter, his protectiveness, her stubbornness was wonderful to read.

I love when the significant others of the main characters band together and commiserate over their spouses.

I absolutely love when a previously repressed woman gets told she can demand what she wants in the bedroom. And it liberates her and also sets the man on fire.

The side characters in this book were also so fun and felt fully realized: Jean-Louis, Minh, Gilberto, Abelardo, Virginia.

This was just a great series!

‘He caulked a thick, dark eyebrow at whatever he heard in her tone, but instead of inviting her inside, he braced a large hand on the top corner of the door jam, until his very distracting mouth with close enough to kiss.’

“The funny thing about revenge is that no one ever thinks about what happens after.”

“It’s about time a woman made you lose your head.”

‘Aurora Montalban Wright was a fire storm. They could bring each other down to Ash.’

Some imbecile had told this woman to hide her fire. To smother the flames of her passion. Apollo only wanted to stoke them. He wanted to burn in them.’

“From the moment I saw you, I’ve wondered what went into the making of your grit, and now that I know, I want to burn the world down and rebuild it for you.”

“The Leonas will turn your life into utter chaos. But if there is any life left once they’re done with you, it is a very enjoyable one.”

I love this series and I am sad to see it end. However I was looking forward to Aurora and Apollo’s story! It did not disappoint! I love a good enemies to lovers story! Their cat and mouse barbs through out the series are witty and fun!

I love the sisterhood by the Leonas! Their friendship and growth is truly one of the best parts of this series!

Also I love how Herrera is able to weave in an all important conversation about women’s health and women’s agency in a historical context that is so relevant to today’s conversation
