Fabulous! Inspirational and bewildering!

When you want to pull off something as outlandish like Israel's victory, you need superhumans, you need angels!
What a remarkable story of a group of people who voluntarily sacrificed themselves; some just for the sake of humanity.

Even after finishing this book, the magnanimity and complexity of the 1948 war hasn't sunk in yet.
Maybe it never will..

I'm a big fan of military non-fiction and found Angels in the Sky to be fascinating. It's the detailed account of volunteers from various countries smuggling in old WWII fighter, bomber and cargo planes to Israel in 1948, forming an Air Force and flying missions that include getting into dogfights w/the Egyptians. Couldn't ask for more than that, but along the way you get to learn more about these people, what motivated them and how they persevered during a difficult time with subpar planes and equipment to triumph over their enemy. Simply put, I loved this book.
