A fantastic collection of interconnected short stories. Read together or separately, these insightful tales will grab you.

This was Washington. I really enjoy slightly connected short stories, and I think this book was very well structured. Felt like sort of a written photo album, if that makes sense? A series of moments in time.

Captivating. Unique. Powerful. Layered. Solid read for anyone!

My older brother told me he’d give me a quarter if I jumped into the unknown.

Nobody dreams all the time because it would hurt too much.

Those Indians disappeared with food still cooking in the pot and air waiting to be breathed and they turned into birds or dust or the blue of the sky or the yellow of the sun.

Fantastic storyteller.

I loved the film Smoke Signals and decided to give the book a shot. It's wonderful. Laugh out loud funny and sad and touching all at the same time. A clear eyed portrait of life on the Native American reservation

Not as good as the absolutely true diary of a part time Indian overall. It's short stories and some I would have given 5 stars. Nothing less than 3 so it got a 4 average.

This book has to be in my top 5 favorite books of all time. I might reread it to make sure.

This book of short stories were heartbreaking, disturbing and twisted. I barely understood everything I was reading...the prose was vivid and lyrical. I wanted to really like it but I was so lost at times. I will have to read again...so much to process....

As Janaki said, "It makes you laugh and cry at the same time." There were parts I set aside so I could read them out loud later because the wording had such poetry in it. I laughed out loud like an idiot on the train; my neighbors thought I was a crazy person.

I loved this book.
