This book counts towards the Reading Woman 2019 Challenge task: a novella

Published in 1899, The Awakening tells the story of Edna, a young woman living in a stifling marriage. She begins to question gender roles and her marriage. In her New Orleans society circle, Edna crosses paths with a couple of young men who spark thoughts in her of how life and love could be different.

This was my first time reading this classic, though it has been on my radar for many years.

A little disappointed, considering all the hype it has received. Did not leave much of an impression on me at all.

The class discussion we had was so good, I loved getting to hear more details about the interpretation of this beautiful novella.
