It really felt like fantasy 50 shades of grey with no plot.   Just wasn’t my vibe.

Read as part of a buddy read, not really my style tbh.

I hate DNFing books but i truly could not suffer through the cringe. Between the insta-love, the bdsm exhibitionism, and the ultra cringe internal thoughts and monologues from both characters, this book was insufferable. i should expect no less from a book that became wildly popular on tiktok but i went in thinking i was prepared to enjoy a trashy romance at best already. No part of this book was enjoyable at all. What the hell is the whole thing with being a god basically like being in the royal family or government? you’re either born into it/inherit the title or you get elected by popular vote. Meaning that these “gods” supposedly live a normal human lifespan and die and someone else takes up the mantle. The gods and their families are treated like celebrities and/or the royal family and their little nepo babies with paparazzi and dirty gossip mags following them around looking for tea. But hades is different, he’s an outcast in charge of the “lower city” which seems like the “upper city” wants everyone to think is the slums but it’s really not. Hades is a really kind but overprotective kinky bastard who is overly concerned about persephones feet. And persephone is supposedly “not like other girls” but she actually is. actually she’s probably worse than other girls because she’s a spoiled rich nepo baby with a trust fund but boohoo she hates politics and her mother and she wants to run away from the limelight while other girls want to be in it. cry me a river. The writing was awful, the narrators of the audiobook are awful, and the sex scenes are cringe.
