I have been won over by this Danish nursery rhyme/ poetry book for kids by two lines:
"Tiptoes to snoop on / and potties to poop on."
And then there is "A ball bounced high into the air. / A curious frog sat up to stare. / He thought "A miracle! How neat! / It hops, but it ain't got feet!"

Poetry by Halfdan Rasmussen, a Danish author who passed away in 2002. His poems are a treat, and Kevin Hawkes' illustrations are delightful as always. Some of the poems are quite reminiscent of nursery rhymes, like this one:
A little bitty man
took a ride on a snail
down a little bitty road that was shady.
The little bitty man
came to Littlebittyland,
where he married a little bitty lady.
The little bitty man
bought a little bitty house
for a little bit of little bitty money.
The little bitty lady
grew very, very big
with a little bitty baby in her tummy.
This would be a nice one to put next to Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein on a young child's poetry shelf!
