My my ...

"You, Leary Michaels, have no idea the beast you've awoken with your antics. You've invited me to come out and play, and now, I'm ready to play."

"Children ... I mean, counsel", Judge Heny says in a tired voice. "Let's us our inside voices when making snide comments taht have nothing to do with the merits of this case."

"I'm not flattering you, Leary, I'm telling you the God's honest truth. You are more beautiful every time I see you.
A stillness overcomes me and I swallow hard. I set the wineglass down and return his stare. "How do you do that ?"
"Do what ?"he asks, his head tilted to the side.
"Make me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. The most special. The most desired."
"Because you are" he says."

I listened to this in audio. Sebastian York was fine, but the lady...not so much!

I’m sure when Sawyer Bennett graduated from law school she never imagined using her degree to help write smoking hot erotica.

First, you’ve got two likeable, determined attorneys on opposing sides of a high stakes case. When you factor in calculated legal strategy, humor, an abundance of sexual tension, and orgasms galore—voilà!—you have a successful courtroom romance. In between all the panty melting escapades though, there’s a lot of legal preparation that goes on as the countdown to the trial begins. I know virtually nothing about the law other than what I see on The Good Wife or Law and Order, so I was actually quite interested to learn about the legal proceedings.

While light on substance, this book is a drama-free quick read that I enjoyed.

I enjoyed listening to this book, specially because the author does a good job of balancing the legal side of the book and the love story between the main characters. I also enjoyed the narrators and the voices they gave to the characters.

So I quite enjoyed this one.. ALOT! It was a fun light read with two really hot characters. Leary is perfect at her job. She knows how to captivate people with her beauty and then attack them with her brains. She's dedicated to her job and nothing stop her. But when she meets Reeve things begin to change. At first, it was all fun and games. Sexual tension is on high and non stop banter that was highly entertaining. Reeve is taken off guard in their first encounter which was pretty hilarious, but then he starts playing the game she started. Things get complicated since Reeve is her opponent on the case she's working on. They promise not to bring their job into their sexual relationship but it fails when things get personal and emotions get involved.
I love the flow of the book and the characters. It was a funny, sweet and hot read that will leave you interested each time you turn the page. Looking for something easy going with just the right amount of drama and banter? Pick this up!

I've been reading a lot of dark books lately and I really needed a break from all that, so I decided to read Sawyer Bennett's Friction and let me tell you, it was exactly the book I needed! It was intense, HOT, and tons of fun to read. It was utterly fantastic and I completely looooooved it!!

Man, Leary is one awesome heroine! She doesn't pull any punches and she gives just as good as she gets. She's so passionate and confident, devious and cunning, and she uses all of her smarts. I got such a kick out Leary - I just loved her!

And HOT D*MN, but Reeve Holloway is HOT!! He's sexy, smart, and so dominant he'll melt your panties as well as your heart. Even more than that though, he's sweet and genuine and you can just tell how he feels about Leary. He was an excellent hero and exactly the kind I needed right now! Reeve completely made me fall in love with him and I know he'll make you fall in love too!

Friction is full of sexual tension and a whole of heat. It's funny and entertaining, but it will still manage to squeeze your heartstrings. It will make your heart pound and get your blood pumping and have you eagerly waiting to see how it's all going to work out! It's a wonderful read that I absolutely loved and enjoyed reading!

Friction is a standalone, it's told from Reeve and Leary's POV, and they do get their HEA!

Friction by Sawyer Bennett is the sixth book in the Legal Affairs series. This is a re-release of the 2015 book. I've read this entire series, and its well developed characters grab you, and the legal part is authentic, which goes back to the authors own history as a litigator.

fric·tion
/ˈfrikSHən/
noun
conflict or animosity caused by a clash of wills, temperaments, or opinions.

Reeve Holloway and Leary Michaels are on opposite sides of a case, their first meeting sizzles and proves Leary will use all the tools available to wreak havoc on opposing counsel. This case is important to Leary and not just because of what was done to her client. As she gets to know Reeve the man underneath doesn't align with the money hungry people he works with. And as lines get blurred and the friction isn't animosity any longer the possibly of real feelings and something beyond the case. When things go sideways is there a way to get them back on the right track and find some happiness together?

This and all my other reviews are originally posted on my blog (un)Conventional Bookviews*I received a free ARC of Friction from Moonlake Romance via Netgalley in exchange of an honest and unbiased review*

Who knew legal-talk could be so hot? Friction has a lot of depth, characters I really enjoyed, and a case that made my heart lurch for the plaintiff.

I didn't really know what to expect when I picked up Friction, apart from the fact that I usually love Ms. Bennett's writing, and thought I'd enjoy this story of hers as well. And I sure did enjoy it! It's a fast-paced story, with a female lead who knows what she wants, and who is definitely willing to do what it takes to get that. Leary was both very smart and in touch with her feminine side. Using her sex appeal to further her clients' agenda did not bother her, and because she was a lawyer fighting against big corporations, it was very easy to cheer her on!

Yay! I read another smexy times book.

Chicago commercial photographers

I totally think I should be able to quit my job and just read smutty books for a living since I totally class up some romance reviewing.

The look my husband just gave me when I told him that not withstanding...

(He would be in the doghouse for that shit except this book might have saved him, since I have plans for him later)

I saw this book getting some high reviews from my Goodreads friends, so I thought I might finally get to read a smutty book that I would read correctly and not automatically one star because of stupid shit.

It's about lawyers so I was thinking I would probably look smart and stuff by reading it.
Then I remembered I hated lawyers.
Blood sucking bastards.

Leary is a young lawyer who has climbed up to partner in her law firm. She was hired and then advised by a tough ole broad who knows that sometimes you have to use what the good lord gifted you..in order to win.
Then Leary takes a case that is personal to her. She is fighting for a mother who has a special needs child to raise and was doing her best to provide. Her way of providing was working as a topless dancer until a general surgeon decides that he can make a few extra dollars by doing some plastic surgery on the side..and he messes up her breasts. Badly.

Then Leary finds out he opposing counsel on the case is just as rabid to win as she is.
"I don't like this jackass nipping at my heels like a little Chihuahua who thinks he has balls the size of Texas."

Leary has met her match in Reeve Holloway. She pulls some shit on him and then he flips it on her in a way that could have gone so very badly...but Reeve is not one to be played.

This is intriguing to me as well as a bit appaling. I've never come up against a woman who is so sure of her own sexual identity and what she wants. It should feel liberating, but it makes me feel slightly displaced.

These two characters!!!!
Now there is a shit ton of sex in this book.
Chicago commercial photographers

And it's hot as balls. I think I had to wring the old granny panties out a few times. (that's an image you guys won't forget)

During the first part of this story I was fanning the kindle trying to get it to cool down.

There is a bathroom scene that is probably the best smexy scene that I've read in a book so far.
Chicago commercial photographers

Then I got to thinking, is sex all these two do? I wasn't complaining or nothing but as lawyers I wouldn't have hired either one of their horny toads.
Then the author of this book whooped out a 180 degree turn and I was vested in this case.

In fact every time I thought that the story was going to leave something open that would have left me ticked off the story came back and cleaned it up nicely.
I loved this little book.
I loved these two characters. I usually hate the standard misunderstanding that happens in romance books, it gets so tiring that you know one is always coming and basically how it is going to work out. So characters actually admitting that they can stick their heads up their arses and be human actually pleased me.

Chicago commercial photographers

Now if you guys will excuse me...I have some stuff to do.

I'm picking Kathleen's review for the spotlight on this one. I think her updates for this book are the reason that I went seeking it out. Kathleen is one of the very nicest reviewers on GR if you don't follow or friend her then you are missing out. I think she always seems to know when I'm in a pissy mood and she will send some little statement my way and then even though it cracks my face I end up smiling.
