First off, How do two authors write one book? This is the most pressing question I have. Is it an important one? No. But it's there. Anyway S. Massery and I guess S.J. Sylvis do it again. Again, for Sara at least. I've never read any of SJ Sylvis's work until now. They answered the age old question of "Does everything have to hit the fan during a Hockey game?". The answer being - yes. In this bully romance, we remember that only our MMC can be mean to our FMC. And obviously, in her head, our FMC thinks she deserves it.

While discussing this with my husband, he was yet again aghast that there couldn't be two normal people falling in love. It couldn't be a well-adjusted FMC who comes from a healthy family to fall in love with a well-adjusted MMC, who comes from a loving family. SOMEONE ALWAYS has to come from a shit background in not both. In this case, that seems to reign true. Our poor FMC comes from a foster situation that also has hints of a drug-dealing/abusive father and our MMC comes from a wealthy father and a step monster. I don't know why they suck, because that wasn't really discussed, but from his side of things, he believed they did. I mean his dad didn't seem nice, but he also wasn't forcing his kid to do illegal things. He did end up in the hospital, but our author's kind of forgot to revisit that. I'll let that go, though (If you're listening Sara and SJ and you decide to do a re-write, can we confront that? Otherwise, my mind will make up stories and my dreams are weird when it goes that way).

Any-who-sal, the final word from me: Did I enjoy this? YUP! I'll give it 4

Can we just?! Ooooof!
First of all, the banter is top tier. The writing is beautifully executed, and has great character development. The spice is top tier, and who doesn’t enjoy a reverse haram moment? Especially when hockey is involved!

She hates her foster brother's best friend but has to share a bedroom in the hockey house with him if she plans on going through with her future plans...... can they even exist together? This was such a fantastic enemies-to-lovers romance. I loved the relationship between Wren and Stone, the way they got under each other's skin and played pranks on each other was great. I just had so much fun with this story and this is a standalone but I can't wait to read any future books in the Shadow Valley University series!!
