This is the start of a new series. I like how the author didn't tell the reader who and what the protagonist was...till later in the story...when it was naturally asked of the character...by someone in the story.
There was a lot of new species that were talked about...which I know very little about. The Fae are not something that I've read a lot about.
Also, the normal groupings of magical creatures are also called different names.
I do like the world, though I wish there were just more normal people, for it seemed that most everyone in this story is some kind of another magical creature.
Cam Ellis is a good character, and I'm interested in reading more in this world. I think the next book will build upon the worldbuilding done in this book...so that there will be more character building in the next story.

Dead in the Water begins when Cam is asked to assist in a case where young women are being murdered by drowning them. She has a past that she would rather forget, but she feels it is necessary to work this case to atone for the things she let happen before. However, when a warg's sister is caught things get even more intense for came. Now, she has this warg named Cord hot on her trail till he finds the person who killed his sister, and Cam knows that some secrets are starting to come to light that shouldn't.
This book was very interesting. I really enjoyed the whole plot line, and the story development was very interesting as well. The only thing that irritated me was Cam's "everything is my fault" attitude, other than that she was pretty awesome and I really enjoyed her a whole lot.
I also can't wait to read more, and find out more about her and Cord, to see if that goes anywhere. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

Really love this book. The characters are so fun getting to know. They were like old friends by the end of the book.
I love Hailey Edwards as a writer, and this story was good. But I'm not sure if I'm going to pursue the second book or not. I'm just not really into Cade as a love interest. He uses her, constantly throughout the book. Manipulates her into doing what he wants, yes its to catch a child killer, but it was still really underhanded and very unattractive. He also is almost instantly into her and is ready to fight/die for her so readily, like what inspired such a strong connection so fast for him? We get to see her view of the relationship, but from his end he is almost instantly all about her.
Also, I felt lost a lot of the time when it came to characters and their species. Cam's power is all about touching someone and knowing what they are. Their species pops into her head instantly.... but she NEVER explains what they do/are. A bean sidhe? a slyph? What use is it to tell the reader their name if we have no idea what it means? It was so frustrating.
There were many points in the story where I just stopped reading from some reason, zoned out and then browsed the internet in boredom. and that shouldn't happen in a book. The story is supposed to grip you and I didn't really get that.
Again, the story was good, but nothing to write home about. I know I've talked a lot about the stuff that bothered me, but its all thats really on my mind.

Notes:
-Ooohhh, I love an urban fantasy read.
-"His free-range trouser-snake..." ahahahahahahaha
-That Vause woman has something to do with it. I just know it.
-Or Harlow could be the culprit.
-This alpha male thing is getting old.
-Don't let yourself cower before him, Cam!
