It was great to read what many consider the quintessential X-Men story. I can see how this story has influenced a lot of the X-Men lore to this day. I love a good time travel story! My only complaint was that the story was over too quickly - I wanted more. Luckily, I'm reading the All-New X-Men and getting my fill on monthly basis. This story takes place around the introduction of Kitty Pryde, who is one of my favorite X-Men characters. If you want to introduce folks to the X-Men, this is a good place to start. Kitty is great avenue into that world.

This was a fantastic comic book collection that gave a lot of backstory to Kitty Pryde, who is the heroine of the two issue comic book arc, Days of Future Past, which sees her travel back in time to save the X-Men and humanity. When it comes to the titular story, it is a gripping story of how much a small choice can change history. Whilst some of the other stories in the book aren’t as compelling or interesting, the core story is strong enough to warrant this a 4.5/5 star rating.

i really enjoyed issue #140 the most and x-men annual #4 and uncanny x-men #143 were also really enjoyable. i loved how 140 explored wolverines character and his anger and empathy. i really enjoy these characters and i liked reading this.

The inspiration behind the X-Men film of the same name, in which a member of the team (or rather, therir consciousness) is sent back in time from the dystiopian future of 2013(!) to the early 198os to stop the assissination of a US Senator: an assiassination that directly leads to fear and mistrust of mutant-kind, and the creation of the robotic Sentinels who police their society.

What is interesting is just how much of this is similar to the events of the movie - often times, the movie bears the barest resemblance to the source material - even if the particulars are different.

For instance, in the movie it's Wolverine who is sent back in time; here it's Kitty Pryde (is she even in any of the movies?). Magneto plays a much larger role in the movie than here; where he's in the future but not so much in the past. Finally, Mystique's role is much enlarged in the movie - perhaps as a direct result of Jennifer Lawrence's star power?

But in either case, the main beats are the same.

An engaging stretch of X-Men comics following the death of Jean, that confronts the new team with various dangers, under the guise of new threats. Shocked to discover that “Days of Future Past” is only two issues, but also very delighted to discover that the film is kind of surprisingly faithful to those two issues in its own way. The other issues are fun and engaging too, from an adventure into “Hell” with Doctor Strange, to Wolverine taking on the Wendigo again, this time with his old Canadian team, and Kitty continuing to come into her own, taking on an extra dimensional creature. Fun stuff!

This was my first comic book audiobook and it was one of those graphic audio readings. I saw the movie but I forgot maybe 80% of all the action scenes 😅 there were SO many! With the added graphic audio reading it was almost overwhelming. Also, graphic audio while driving can be scary! Overall it was exactly what I expected and quick at only 5hrs long. 3 ⭐️

I purchased this book for two reasons. One is the upcoming Bryan Singer film based on this story. The other is that I've always heard Chris Claremont's run on X-men is the stuff of legend. I don't have much experience with X-men prior to the "Schism" storyline, so it was nice to see where some of these heroes really got there start. The dialogue was a little more campy and cheesy than I'm used to, but I enjoyed the overall stories quite a bit. The actual Days of Future Past story is only two issues long out of the six included. This is definitely the highlight of the book. The dystopian future version of 2013 is haunting while the present we have the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Both come together nicely to provide a great story. The first issue in the trade is just a recap issue, which I appreciated as a newcomer but wouldn't be worth reading to any big X-men fan. The other stories are pretty much self-contained side stories that are a lot of fun but not changing anybody's lives. Overall I enjoyed it. However, if you just want to read the Days of Future Past story, I would still recommend picking up this collection as this is by far the cheapest and easiest way to do it. Those two issues alone are worth the price.

Realmente "Days of Future Past" sólo es un tercio del recopilatorio. El descenso al infierno de Dante de Nightcrawler estaba curioso, pero el asunto ese del ¿¿demonio?? y el crossover con Alpha Flight pues yo qué sé...
