First book of 2020 DONE! What I enjoyed most about this book was the atmosphere- the misty island descriptions was perfect for my current holiday in NZ. The characters I could give or take, and I found some of the ideas about women..... interesting. A bit old fashioned, but it suited me for my trip! Shetland sounds like a dreamy place!

This is the final book in the Shetland series. I am going to miss Jimmy Perez. A sad farewell to a great series.

I think the conclusion to the Shetland book series is a bit disappointing. I felt that Willow's and Perez's relationship was forced and unsatisfactory, both felt out of character. The murder case was compelling yes, but I found it unconvincing. The depiction of an autistic child was only partly okay. I will miss Perez.

The final book of the Shetland series, I am bereft ...

Another great read from Ann Cleeves and once more her descriptions of Shetland have left me longing to go, though I hope there would be fewer fatalities if I did! Yes, I did guess who the murderer was, but not until just before the reveal.

All the Shetland books are so good and I wish there were more.

I listened to this installment in the Shetland series. I am not entirely sure why I keep reading, the cast of the usual characters don’t appeal to me much. The latest development in detective Jimmy Perez’ private life is interesting though.

The murdered girl is a nanny, found hung in a barn. She’s not the only one to have died there, although the first clearly was a suicide. The plotting is clever, I had no inkling toward the culprit.
