“Did you just compare my powerful, masculine ejaculation to a bird shitting on a windshield?”
Yes, Cal, yes she did. Untether was a fun easy read featuring everyone’s favorite side character from the previous books in the series. At times I wish I had more of Cal’s personal growth and gotten to be in his head more (we got a better glimpse in the bonus epilogue with him talking about the boys but I needed more) and at the same time I wish the opposite for Aida. I wish I had gotten to see more of her growth in her sexual journey with Cal instead of her just recapping it later in a more proper mindset. This was a huge part about that journey for her but most of the scenes were in Cals pov. Don’t get me wrong, I love Cal and appreciate all the hot Cal action I received but just in keeping with seeing them as well rounded characters. Maybe I just selfishly needed every scrap of Cal possible.

I loved Cal in the previous books, especially in the first book, even if I didn't want to see him with Belle. He just played his role so perfectly and I was excited for his book.
Aida was just really difficult to connect with. She seemed sort of emotionless through most of this. I would expect anger, embarrassment perhaps, at her ex husband's infidelity. Maybe if she had gotten a glimpse at her character as that scandal broke? We're told she is a household name in British television but I don't remember her (or her supposedly high profile divorce) being mentioned in the other books, except the tail end of Gen's when she meets with Aida.
Their relationship felt way too much like instalove to me. I would expect Aida to have SOME reservations. She just ended a lengthy marriage. She has two kids. Cal owns a sex club. Yet the focus seemed to be on her age instead which, I'm not a fan of older woman/younger man personally, but with the age gaps in the previous books, I don't think it should have been SUCH a focus.
The spice is good, especially if you like the idea of a man in a balaclava scene. However, I still think Cal's dirty talk in Unfurl was better.

I've always liked younger men ;)
Cal is SO easy to love. He's one of the 4 owners of the extremely high class sex club in London - Alchemy. Well known (American) broadcast journalist Aida Russell wants to sign up for the Unfurl program after her messy and publicly humiliating divorce, because she's tired of a woman's sexuality being treated shamefully while men get away with that whole "boys will be boys" attitude.
Top that off with the fact that the bedroom relationship between Aida and her ex was unsatisfying to them both - while he went out and got what made him happy (which led to the demise of the marriage), she was still feeling like her hands were tied by the court of public opinion, which really doesn't want to hear about a woman not getting her needs met.
Aida decides to use her journalistic profession to film a short documentary about awakening her sexual identity. She didn't have a lot of experience prior to her marriage so she's hoping she can figure that out in the Unfurl program at Alchemy - and Cal is the one who's going to "mentor" her.
Cal is the director of events at the club, and has been enjoying the perks thereof for as long as it's been open. He meets with Aida and decides on a particular course of action to show her how to take what *she* wants. He's had a kind of celeb-crush on her for years because she's very good at her job - professional, straight talker, knows how to get what she wants from her interviews.
What she hasn't ever known exactly how to express was what she wanted in the bedroom (or the party room, but whatever) ;)
When Aida decides she wants to attend the Masked Ball at the club, it changes everything about the way Cal thought he wasn't going to approach things, but in the best way for both of them.
Cal was SO much fun to read. I freely admit that Cal would *not* be the right guy for me, but as it turns out, he's absolutely the right guy for Aida.
Aida is a great character. She's got strength of self, intelligence, she's caring and nurturing. She was brave enough to put forth this pretty risky venture to give women - especially more mature (over 40) a voice in their own sexual awakenings.
I write this review freely after having received an ARC copy of this book.

it was kind of boring, but i liked both mcs.
I was so excited for Cal’s story. He’s the only single co-owner of Alchemy, Londons high class sex club.
Cal has very much enjoyed the perks of running a club like this, single and happy with his life.
Aida is in her mid forties (my demographic) perimenopausal and recently divorced from her cheating husband. She set out to discover her sexuality having lead a very vanilla sex life.
She was matched with Cal and wow what a match it ended up being.
I didn’t think Aida would be as adventurous as she was, she truly embraced the process.
I loved everything about this book, it was a fast paced easy read and Cal is such a sweetheart ❤️

Aida is a famous American journalist living in London and just got out of a 15 year marriage after finding out she had been cheated on. Now she is a single mom of two young boys and trying to navigate her new normal. She is also looking to step out of the rut she has found herself in. She sought the help from Alchemy to get her out of her funk and her very underwhelming sex life she suffered while being married. She wanted to take control of her narrative after a year of her name being dragged through he mud because of her ex.
Cal is the man child of the four that co owners of the sex club Alchemy in London. He is game for anything in and out of the bedroom. Cal jumped at the opportunity to volunteer to mentor Aida through the Unfurl program to reclaim her sexuality. Cal did warn her not to get attached as he does not do relationships. But the problem is the more he sees her claim her sexuality the more attached he gets.
I loved this book and the banter Cal has with not only Aida but with everyone in the series is hilarious. I can’t wait to jump into the next book.

I wanted to love this one because we finally got an older woman, younger man angle but I found them both slightly annoying and the plot tedious and even the smut was not really doing it for me. At this point I’m just along for the ride and fully invested in the side characters (then eventually become main characters in new books) that keep popping up.
