I bought this book on a whim one day based on the description the back gave; I thought it sounded just ridiculous enough to be awesome. I can't say I was exactly disappointed in how the story turned out, but it wasn't overwhelmingly great, either.

The story starts off kind of slow, setting up the main characters and how they got where they are. Once you get past that, though, the story picks up, and the plan goes awry (doesn't it always?), things start to get more interesting as they learn more about the island and its past. Overall, the story is satisfying, and though the two main characters start off obnoxious, by the end they've grown on you.

The real problem with this book, I found, was actually the editing. Misspelled words, misplaced or missing punctuation, incorrect capitalization were all commonplace. I can usually ignore one or two typos in a novel; hey, it happens, you can't catch everything. But I was finding several typos a chapter. No, it doesn't detract from the story, but it's distracting (if you notice that kind of thing) and breaks your focus.
