Amazing. Kennedy never fails. This book is the best from this series so far. And I hope the next one is even better. Jake is my favorite kind of character. He knew what he wanted, and he communicated it. He never failed to tell Oz how he felt about him, and he loved him in a way, I think we all want to be loved. Unwavering.

I love that the angst/drama only happened near the end of the book. I was annoyed at how long the secrets were kept hidden, but I think it worked well in this story. It really did feel like we all wanted to keep things going just a little longer before the end date. So am not mad at it. Great story. Nice seeing the previous characters too.

Oz was hilarious. Omg I laughed out loud a lot. And I'm coming off a Lennox novel that pissed me off for trying to be funny. And I literally said, while laughing at something Oz said, this is how you do funny. I'm sure this too is Lennox's flavor, since Kennedy is mostly angst. So am glad it worked here.

I cried too. Oh did I cryyyy. maybe it's just my covid emotions.

Okay, I had a blast trying to figure out Jake's past and I'm pleased to say that all of my guesses were wrong (which is funny because of reasons if you read one of these author's other books). I very much enjoyed Oz and Jake and the expanding found family in these books.

This was a great installment for this series!! I have been dying to know Jake's story since the first book and it did not disappoint. Then there's Oz . . . Glorious, fabulous Oz. They are perfect for each other, both with secrets and both running from the past that can only lead them to each other. And once they are together, it's explosive. There were some great laugh-out-loud scenes, made even better by Michael Pauley's incredible narration. And it was still hot as hell, like all good Lucy Lennox and Sloane Kennedy books are!

I was so excited for this book because Jake! The first 2 books left me curious about him. Why did he seem to be a doctor, yet didn't practice medicine? Why was he so mysterious? We get the answers to both those questions finally.

Jake is just trying to live his life as quietly and alone as possible. He has no room for dating and especially falling in love with anyone. The less attachments the better, for a very important reason. All that hard work is smashed to bits when the beautiful Oz moves in next door for the winter. Try as he might to keep him at a distance the pull is too strong.

Oz is spending his summer in his remote cabin in Haven to work on his fashion design career. He can't help but notice his hot new neighbor, who seems to want nothing to do with him...until that kiss . Then all bets are off! That is until Jake's past finally catches up with him.

These men have to go through a pretty harrowing situation before they get their definitely hard won HEA. I liked both these MCs. Jake with his broodiness and Oz with his sarcasm and kind heart. They were a great match and I was rooting for them even when Jake was being an ass on purpose.

Now what I'm really excited about is that it looks like it's Luckys turn to get lucky!!! And I am hoping it involves a certain muscle bound ex military man.
