Axelryckning med en bunt osympatiska karaktärer. Jag ville verkligen tycka om den, men det ville sig inte den här gången.

Knarkade i mig denna fantastiska bok. Obegripligt att jag inte läst den. Hade nåt minne av att jag försökt men inte kommit in i den. Nu var inte det nåt problem hur som helst.

The end really ties together the themes well — in a way I wasn’t expecting. The themes play a much larger role in the story than I anticipated as I read through. But by the end, I realized this was always about the forest and the river and how humans interacted with it. Man vs nature, nature and man.

There were also unexpected threads on motherhood and female lineage, that comes to a heart wrenching (but conclusive) ending. Several of Annie’s key decisions were driven by her role and her believed personal responsibility as a mother.

I love Swedish Crime Fiction and this felt like something different, that I hadn’t read before. I almost wished there was even more character exploration. Because of its wide cast of characters, I felt like I only understood each of them a little bit. I wanted to be in their skin a little bit longer. I’ll have to look for the TV show adaptation, perhaps it will fill that void.

Bra språk och intressant innehåll. Väldigt snyggt hur allt knyts ihop i slutet!
