Random selection for me. This is my first Baldacci novel. It was fast-paced, predictable and run to read! It would make a great holiday read!

It started off strong with a unique concept for a plot but the uniqueness pretty much stopped there. The strength and wittiness of the, in my opinion, not so likable characters was pretty unrealistic. I will be the first to say that sometimes I like James Bond or Dirk Pitt like unrealistic character abilities but only in books that are written with the intent of being all encompassing in the theme of unrealistic from characters to plot to villains. This was not the case for this one. It felt very much like a roller coaster ride. The plot would be on a pretty thrilling exciting path just to become annoyingly try hard when the climaxes appeared. It was entertaining for the most part, yes, but I would probably not recommend it to many of my friends and I definitely won’t be a rereading it myself in this lifetime.

Possibly too long. Baldacci writes in detail using descriptions. Although this makes a good story it also draws it out.

I admit I skimmed a lot of this book. I hate to not finish a book, but I hit a point where I just couldn't deal with it any more. I like Baldacci, and his writing is great, but this story is just...stupid. LuAnn is an idiot. Plain and simple. The constant description of her amazing beauty and sharp mind and brute strength - ok, I get it! But she's still an idiot. The overall story is just too convoluted with just too many idiotic coincidences for me.
