Comes out in August, don't miss this one guys. I think it could be the next Coraline. Seriously.

I loved this! Victoria really progressed as a character, from being all touchy and closed up about her feelings and an obsessive perfectionist to rebelling against Mrs Cavendish and running with scissors across the garden. Simply beautiful.

This gave me creeps. The ending was at first so satisfying and then... Nevermind, the book has some heavy Coraline vibes.

dark mysterious

A creepy mystery with super gross details and a fantastic main character. I loved Victoria, and while it might not be the most original of story lines, it's so well written I didn't really care.

This is a delightfully creepy, satisfyingly shivery, comically quirky read. One of my top faves! It's an intricate adventure packed with mystery and the meaning of love and friendship.

Spooky. Spoooooky. Boo! Are you scared yet?

This book is one of those quietly scary books examining the frightening implications of perfectionism.

Victoria is a marvelous character, resplendent in all aspects of her character--perfect and imperfect alike. I could relate to her stress about getting a B on her report card. People compare this book to _The Mysterious Benedict Society_ and Neil Gaiman's juvenile work, and I think that's an accurate gage. If those books suit your taste, this one will be a treat!

Content advisories:

Cockroaches, kidnapping, creepy puppet master evil overladies, stifling protectionism and conformity, possible cannibalism, and other macabre elements.
