to write about my father, his life and the distance which had come between us during my adolescence. Although it had something to do with class, it was different, indefinable. Like fractured love.

It's written by Annie Ernaux, what more can I say?

her writing is incredible, every word is written with purpose! this is a devastating recount of her fathers life and her relationship with him, intersecting  how class and status and education interplayed within it. i adored it. i cant wait to read more ernaux.
