The Tin Rose (Elemental Steampunk Stories #1) by Anne Renwick – This was a freebie from the author, and a cool introduction to her steampunk world! These two have to fight hard for their HEA! Happy Reading!

Short story with a steampunk world, we have a spurn love story and a race against time to save the person they love from a deadly poising from a gift they received.

The story was to short for me to feel connected to it and the righting just didn't grab me sadly.

I went in knowing that it was a short story, and yet... I just didn't like it. I liked the steampunk vibe, I liked the concept of an aristocrat and Romani falling in love. But I didn't like the antagonist being just oh you don't love me then let me kill you, and the Romani constantly being referred to as G**sy.

I'm not gonna pass judgment on this authors work based off of this book, but if you interested in them skip this one.

Great to get some background on Lady Emily & Luca. It gives a neat explanation for how they are in Golden Spider. There is plenty of action and drama for such a short story but I would have liked a longer story that showed the growth of their relationship from meeting to forbidden love to marriage.

A story of jealousy and love! And that's about what good I can say about it. Sure, I liked the steampunk elements, even if they were somewhat over the top, but the whole plot of this story was rather weak and cliche. I'm sorry that I don't have anything else good to say about this short, but I found it rather boring and would have DNFed it if it was any longer.

A story telling the story of Lady Emily and Luca detailing the day that she ran away with the Roma (gypsies).
An enjoyable short story.

Talk about a sweet little gem! I hadn't known quite what to expect from the brief summary for this short story on Amazon, and I didn't think I would enjoy it so much as it is a prequel of sorts to a series called the Elemental Web Chronicles. This short story can, however, be read as its own stand-alone thing and it isn't necessary to read the other books in order to enjoy this one, I would imagine.

This is a forbidden romance short between a lady of high society and the Romani tinkerer she's fallen in love with, as they are preparing to elope one night. Their plans begin to go awry when a scorned and jealous rival announces her plan to ruin their happy engagement, and it is up to Emily and Luca to overcome what happens.

Sad to say that Anne Renwick's writing didn't captivate me; the story was good and the characters were likable. I do believe she managed to successfully capture a fully-realized narrative with the characters. While it would be interesting to see an entire novel dedicated to their relationship prior to this engagement, she also wrote this in a way where such additional backstory isn't really needed. Regardless, her writing style didn't capture me or leave me incredibly impressed, so I'm not entirely sure if I will make the extra effort to read the rest of the Elemental Web Chronicles or not. But for what it's worth, I certainly enjoyed this story and am very happy I read it.

The story was amazing. The writing was great and managed to pull me into the story.
